Stitch Markers

I've been playing around with stitch markers for my pants pattern. So here they are. Markers one and two designated by one and two seed beads. Plus front and back designated by the orientation of the ladybug. I'll have more coming in different colours and designs but all will be ladybugs. Also looking for bee stock too for my buzzy bee soaker. More news on that later.

Skirt Pattern is almost ready.

I just need to get feedback from one more test knitter, on the final size. Then it's done and ready for release.

I've been playing with a dress pattern too. Only one size to this one so far.

Apart from designing I've been knitting a few things for my little girl.

A cotton dress with modifications from the Duchess Pattern by Louisa Harding.

And some ladybug stitch markers, these one's are just for me but I will make some for sale next week too.

Neglected Blog

I've neglected my blog of later. Life has been busy. My pattern launch went off fantastic. I did a minor edit within a few days of release adding a new leg cuff. It's been fun designing it and writing it for new knitters. I've been working on my skirt pattern for release too. Hoping to get it out in the next few days.

I've worked on a soaker that I am just not 100% sure whether I like it or not. I'm going to try it with a different colourway but I do like the effect from the cable and slip.

I've also been designing a dress for little Miss and then will send it out to some test knitters too.

Pattern Launch coming soon

I can't believe it's so close now. I've been designing a pattern for about a year, editing changing, testing, getting others to knit and test it, then finding new knitters to test it. It's almost ready for sale now. It's the longies/shorties that I have been using in my store. Writing it up for others to use takes a lot more work than writing it up for myself.
Many late nights fixing the wording, now I just need some more pictures of some of the details, so I'm knitting those up too.

I've designed it in 4 sizes, newborn, small, medium and large. In 3 yarn weights, dk/8ply, worsted/10ply and bulky/12ply. 4 leg shapes, straight, tapered, flared and bell bottom. 17 cuff options, 4 waistbands, ribbed 1x1, ribbed 2x2 with or without cord, enclosed elastic and buttonhole elastic. So lots of choices to get you started and change as you need. Basically so you won't need to search for another pattern again. I know many will though, half the fun is using new patterns too.

My pattern is different to others in the shaping around a nappy with a generous rise at the back as well as buttock shaping. The gusset is worked differently to others I've seen too. I think it results in a finish that sits better and doesn't pull at the increases.

Hopefully it will be something people like and I'm sure it will need some revising over the coming months too. So I will keep a database of purchasers and send updates if it changes after release.

Pattern Edits

This is a custom I started on last weekend. Funky Finnleg's

I'm back to editing my pattern once again. This time I've added worsted weight yarn to the pattern and need to make alterations to stitch number etc and knit it up in all 4 sizes, I've done 1, almost done large for a custom order. I'm also working on some for bubba in her size too.

Store stocking tonight

Well it's stocking time tonight. I did end up embellishing the striped organic longies because they just seemed left out without it. I also did another pair of longies with some 100purewool I had leftover from Pebbles Purple delight. They need some embellishing so I've listed them with a custom for stocking.

So now I can get back to some things for our family. Helena for my little girl and a couple of toys and christmas things for the kids too.

Stocking and Pattern testing

I've got my pattern being tested by several new knitters now. After over 12 months of development and chages and feedback and more changes, had other testers knit it it's now ready for new knitters. Mostly editing changes now though, silly little things that I need to explain more clearly too.

My store stocking is all ready for Saturday now too. I've finished the embellishments and can't decide whether to preview all the embellishments or leave them as surprises.

I decided to leave the organic stripes as they were and not embellish though. If I embellished I'd be using non organic yarn and I want them to stay completely organic.

Previews for July Stocking

Rainbow is still my favourite and I love doing these skirts. Size 3 this time. Lovely waverly woollen mills 8 ply merino. Hand painted for self striping. Photobucket

More waverly 8 ply merino hand painted in mauves and pinks.

Super cheap camo from K Mart. These pants like to hide in the gress. A simple cable really worked for these, gnome on the butt to come soon.Photobucket Photobucket

Organic stripes were so soft to knit. Woolganic yarn and my first attempt at jogless joins wasn't totally successful but I fixed it when it came to weaving in the ends. Next time will be 100%.

Some little pixies I think are needed for embellishing these.
I've called these peruvian pixie pants so pixies for embellishment too. They are made from some lovingly soft peruvian merino, the colourway was named Jade Monkey and I originally thought of a monkey face for the embellishment on these, I changed my mind once I started the legs. Pixie's will be perfect for them. These have an elastic waistband.

Sean Sheep armytage made a quick knit cable for newborn. A few more yarn joins than I planned because I wanted to even out the striping in the legs and make them a little more the same than what first started with them. I don't like it when the legs are totally different.

Changing my mind mid knit

I started a soaker or maybe shorties for Miss A but the more I knit with it the more I decided I wanted it to be a skirt. I really love that my pattern is accommodating of me changing my mind without having to pull it apart. So the forget me knits soaker is now a lovely skirt, I've got a few more rows to go and then a crochet bind off and crab stitch edge. It looks like I'll have enough yarn leftover to do the cuffs on a pair of capri's to go underneath. That of course will require a trip to spotlight for the yarn for the carpri's I only have 100grams here. I'll have to come back with photo's later.

I'm having a little trouble getting the size right for a gnome on the camo cabled longies and have pulled it out several times. I'll get there eventually though.

Jade monkey longies have been pulled at the legs a couple of times too, I didn't like the colour pooling so changed the stitch number for the legs and now I have some striping instead. It's more bearable but will mean I will change the embellishment I was planning on putting on them. They may end up waiting for August stocking instead.

I'm dying to get those 2 done though so I can start on my recent dye job and earth mother from the yarn cafe. I have some lovely fairy embellishments for both of those.

Woolly mail arrived today too and it was my wholesale order of woolganic, so I now have the right colours for the organic striped boy longies I'm doing for the store too. They will also have either a gnome or a leprechaun on them.

It's school holidays next week and I had really hoped I'd have more finished before my time gets limited again for a few weeks. I hope to have my stocking at the end of the holidays though.

End of June almost

I finished Scarlett's Cables and really love the end product. It was not the simple job I planned because I chose a more complex cable pattern than usual for my pattern and using double strand 5ply yarn was a challenge with the cables. The end result though I am really pleased with and decided they didn't need any embellising as the cable is enough. I also braided the cord this time, whichI hate doing as I needed it so long so it got rather knotty too easily, twisted probably would have done though.

Also been working on these for Pebbles and love the yarn 100purewool. Very soft and squishy and the colourway is great too. I'm looking forward to getting an action shot of these to put on the store gallery.

I've started some bargain conscious camoflage cables too. K mart yarn and a little bit of colour pooling. Just half a leg left now but the progress pic is enough to stick in here for now.
So my customs are done and now I'm working on my next store stocking. I've been playing with ideas and patterns and have a few licenses now too, I've ditched my experimenting on a few patterns as there are already some good one's out there. So I will be working with the belladonna designs longies, the munchkin rumps universal soaker/longies, the radiant twist trim fit soaker and Sylver designs mary jane's and loafers.
I'm still working on my own crochet longies pattern too, something suitable for stripes without losing shape because of stripes. Another 3 things I'm working on are some elf shoes, fairy wings and pixie hats. I'm just not looking at any patterns trying to get these done, I feel like I jinx myself when I start something and then someone posts a blog or a link to something else all together but what I'm working on is already there. I feel like it's been hampering my creativity for a bit, the more I look the more I see the same stuff arond everywhere.
My next stocking will also be with a theme. I've decided the next theme will be called "Enchanted Dreams" or "Enchanted Garden" I'm not 100% sure until I finish the embellishing on a couple of things. Essentially it will be fairies, pixies, elves, leprechaun's, gnomes. The kind of magical creatures that come out in the garden at night.
Other theme ideas I'm looking at inlcudes Alice in Wonderland and I'll launch the tea pot and tea cups then too.
Also a jungle animals and farmyard animals theme, perhaps two separate occasions, sea creatures, more rainbow related themes too.
I'm having fun in the planning.

New Blog Time

Darnit I was sick of trying to fix things in my blog so a new one instead. Blogger looks easier too.

This is my knitting/crafting blog. Updating what I'm doing, what I like and when I finish things.

Hopefully I can add some progress pics and a progress ticker thing too.

My webstore can be found here
http://www.minicuteture.com.au/store.php?SS=19

Currently I'm working on several things.

A pair of cabled longies in Cranberry BWM classic 2 strands of 5 ply. let me tell you it's a challenge with 2 strands to do cables, but it is looking very pretty. I'm doign these for a woman from my January 07 babies group. I'm sure they will be well loved.

Another WIP is a pair of pink/purple/navy longies using 100purewool. It is very soft and very nice, single ply so I think it will pill terribly but my customer is aware of this and wanted soft for night time.

Third I'm doing a pair of shorties for Miss A. These are made with Waverly woollen mill 8 ply merino that I hand painted in pinks/mauves. I've already completed some newborn longies with what was originally 200grams and think I'll have just enough for a air of short shorties for Miss A, perhaps a soaker, I will need to decide very soon which it will be though.

Fourth I'm doing a twirly tank for my neice. Basically just a little vest to wear on it's own in hotter weather or over a shirt in winter, I've got to go to spotlight today to get some tassles and buttons to hang from it so it will be twirly. I think it wil look quite pretty when it's done. I've started it in a coral colour just Panda woolbale yarn that I had hanging around.
